Susan E. Perkins, PhD

Dr. Susan Perkins is a Visiting Associate Professor of Strategic Management at New York University’s Stern School of Business. Dr. Perkins has taught strategic management and global strategy in top-ranked MBA and executive education programs globally including Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, MIT Sloan School of Management, HEC Paris, and the University of Illinois – Chicago (UIC). Prior to her career in academia, Dr. Perkins worked in brand management and strategy consulting roles at General Motors, Proctor & Gamble, PepsiCo, and Kearney Global Management Consulting.

Her research focuses on corporate governance, ownership structures, and leadership roles in organizations to determine how strategic decisions shape organizations and societal-level outcomes. Her research has been published in journals including the Harvard Business Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, and the Global Strategy Journal.

Professor Perkins was most recently recognized as a “Hall of Fame Professor” by the Initiative for A Competitive Inner City (ICIC) in 2019 for her excellence in executive education teaching Strategic Management to over 3,500 entrepreneurs. She was voted the “Best MBA Professor” by the Corporate MBA Class of 2019 at UIC Business.

Professor Perkins received her BBA with honors from Howard University, School of Business. She received three degrees from New York University, Stern School of Business including an MBA in International Management from FGV, São Paulo, a Master’s in Philosophy in Management, and a PhD in International Business Strategy.
